If your game appears to hang with the message: Authenticating user with Epic Online Services
Please be sure to alt-tab out of the game if you hang during the launch/loading of the game, and look for a browser window or tab asking you to authenticate with your Epic Game Store account
In some cases, users reported they have had to launch their default browser to get the authentication login screen to come up
Launch Crash or other failures to launch
If you receive an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error
Please add the following command into your Steam launch options for the game
Right-click on the game in Steam
Select Properties
In the "Launch Option" box please add the following
-dx12
Closed the properties window and relaunch the game
If you see an error that looks like this: DeceiveInc-Win64-Shipping.exe - Application Error
Please make sure the game is allowed through any security software (such as an Anti Virus)
To do this you will need to make sure the game binary is allowed through. It is named and can be found in the install directory like so: DeceiveInc\DeceiveInc\Binaries\Win64\DeceiveInc-Win64-Shipping.exe
Special Note: Trend Micro has been reported as needing the above to happen or the game will not launch
Players receive the message "Easy Anti-Cheat not installed"
In Steam, right-click Deceive Inc - > Properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game files...
In EGS, left-click on the 3 dots that are below and to the right of the game in your Library, select manage, and choose Verify Files
if it doesn't there is an EAC installer included within the build \Epic Games\ or SteamLibrary \CafeNoirAlpha\EasyAntiCheat
If you see this error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x0000000000000ff0
Delete the appdata folder for the game (C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Local\DeceiveInc\Saved) and your game should launch
When the game relaunches, go to settings
Turn off Razer Chroma (It does not matter if you do not have any Razer hardware or apps installed)
This will avoid the crash at this time until a fix is in place
